ISO Language Codes

You should always include the lang attribute inside the <html> tag, to declare the language of the Web page. This is meant to assist search engines and browsers:

<html lang="en">
...
</html>

In XHTML, the language is declared inside the <html> tag as follows:

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
